Krrish Delhi Smashers have a smashing victory over Banga Beats; win 4-1

Bangalore, August 25, 2013: The high voltage encounter between Krrish Delhi Smashers and Banga Beats came to an end today with Delhi winning the Tie 4-1 over Bangalore. Players from both the teams put lot of effort but Delhi was clearly a notch higher in performance which ensured the balance to be in favor of Krrish who did not stop winning from the second match onwards.
The mixed doubles between Jwala Gutta & V Diju of Krrish Delhi Smashers and Carston Mogensen & Caroline Marin was won 21-16 15-21 11-9 by Delhi as a closing victory over Bangalore. “We did not feel any pressure from the beginning. The shuttle was coming a bit too fast but Diju handled them very well. I am also very happy that the team won 4-1, Said Jwala after winning the match in a style.”
Extremely delighted at winning the men’s second singles and being declared Vodafone Player of the Tie, H S Prannoy said, “My last time’s loss had made me more determined to win this match. I was planning to play more freely but when the change in player happened and I realized I was playing against Arvind Bhat, I worked hard and improved my shots. I also made a lot of mistakes in my bodyline but the suggestions from the coach helped me win the game.”
Post her win over Carolina Marin in women’ singles, J Nichaon said, “I played an attackers game and pushed the shuttle very hard. This helped me gain advantage over Carolina. This is the first time I am playing in India and the cheering crowd here boost my confidence.”
Speaking after winning men’s doubles, Koo Kien Keat said, “We both played a well coordinated game and remained focused. Our aim was to try and win every point. The shuttle was not as fast as yesterday which really helped us in winning the match.”
Ecstatic on winning men’s singles against Sai, P Kashyap said, “I played my best today. I just kept my cool throughout and won the game. Beating a senior player like me is something every player like Sai would want because I am more experienced than him. I wish him good luck for next matches.”

The $1-million Vodafone Indian Badminton League started on August 14, 2013, with some high-voltage action. The 2013 IBL will feature six franchises and will run for 18 days. Each franchise will host a two-day leg and the League will showcase a grand total of 90 matches, providing broadcasters and in-stadia spectators with more than 100 hours of LIVE “family entertainment” which will also be viewed by a significant international audience. The matches will be held during late afternoon and evening to coincide with prime time television and providing a convenient time for the stadium audience.
The top four franchises in the Vodafone IBL will clash in the semi-finals and the winners will meet in the grand final on August 31, which will be played in Mumbai, for the richest prize money tournament in badminton till now.
