New Delhi, August 15, 2013: The second day of the high-impact Vodafone IBL witnessed enthralling matches between Hyderabad Hotshots and Awadhe Warriors. Rising badminton star PV Sindhu, marked her place in BWF top 10 after today’s tough challenge against Saina Nehwal. The Hyderabad Hotshots took off the Vodafone IBL with a 3-2 lead over Awadhe Warriors. The match tally was as follows:

Post her win Saina Nehwal said, “IBL is a welcome initiative in the Badminton arena and we seek support from media, spectators, sponsors and all others for their support in promoting the game so that the infrastructure system is further improved and we have more winning players coming from Indian stable”.
Commenting on Sindhu’s performance Nehwal added, “This was the first time that we played against each other and she was indeed a strong competition. The way she plays, I’m sure she has a bright future ahead. ”
Commenting on her match, PV Sindhu said, “World championship has really boosted my spirit, my target was to be in the top 10 by the end of this year, and I’m already achieved that so I’m very happy. Today was my first match with Saina, and it was very challenging but I played my game. The crowd really supported me and my team and we are confident that we will perform much better as we go along in the league”.
The $1-million Vodafone Indian Badminton League is set to launch on August 14, 2013, with some high-voltage action expected between Krrish Delhi Smashers and Pune Pistons. The 2013 IBL will feature six franchises and will run for 18 days. Each franchise will host a two-day leg and the League will showcase a grand total of 90 matches, providing broadcasters and in-stadia spectators with more than 100 hours of LIVE “family entertainment” which will also be viewed by a significant international audience. The matches will be held during late afternoon and evening to coincide with prime time television and providing a convenient time for the stadium audience.
The top four franchises in the Vodafone IBL will clash in the semi-finals and the winners will meet in the grand final on August 31, which will be played in Mumbai, for the richest prize money tournament in badminton till now.
